About MGW

In 1912, two quintessential San Francisco institutions came into existence.
January 1st was the inaugural Cross-City Race. It was created to lift spirits after the 1906 earthquake. The name was changed in 1961, but the race has never been cancelled, even during war. This makes Bay to Breakers the longest consecutively-running footrace in the world.
On December 28, the A-Geary streetcar entered revenue service. Not only did it represent the birth of Muni, but San Francisco was the first major US city to construct a municipally-owned transit system. The citizens, fed up with the private transit companies, approved a bond for $2 million to finance the new railway. This makes Muni the longest continually-running public transit system, at least in the US.
Muni Gone WILD commemorates these two historic events. We are continuously recruiting operators and craftspeople. Contact the team
We assume it goes without saying, but just for the record:
Muni Gone WILD is in no way affiliated with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, the Municipal Railway, or any other government agency.
